The major event of last year was our head office move to Urdarhvarf. We were previously in three different locations, but the facilities had long become too small for us.
Being all together under one roof makes all the difference. Everybody now has top-notch workspaces and there are sufficient meeting rooms and far better spaces for communal events. Since the move, there have been various fun innovations, such as a pop-up café, book presentations and lectures on various topics. We also have a wonderful canteen and good shower facilities; a very active running group formed soon after the move. The building is being used very well, and the move has brought us together.
There are exciting times ahead in all areas. I could mention the hotel next to Reykjavik’s conference center, the silicon metal factory in Helguvík and various interesting projects abroad. Such challenges also provide opportunities to learn many new and exciting things. As regards staff development, taking part in large infrastructure, energy or industrial projects can prove to be tantamount to a master’s degree. Such large projects act as a catalyst within the company.
Mannvit is an ambitious and pleasant place of work, where trust, open-mindedness, knowledge and well-being are the order of the day.
We issued a booklet of staff guidelines on project safety. Our staff uses the booklet to assess situations and welfare and make provisions regarding any risks that the work can present. Much emphasis is placed on safety and environmental issues in everything Mannvit does, and quality assurance is a priority in all our projects. The booklet is short but contributes greatly to greater awareness of safety issues among staff.
